At the moment, it is the last day of August, 78 degrees Fahrenheit .
After several weeks of unbearable heat, it has finally cooled down. I am already dreaming of the approaching autumn: colorful leaves, warm cozy sweaters, and a hot beverage in hand.
One of my coworkers loves Starbucks and keeps us updated regularly on the rotating menu. Last week, they welcomed back the cherished Pumpkin Spice Latte. I roll my eyes – even though I just expressed to you my anticipation for the changing season, cannot we wait until after Labor Day?
One of my goals this month was too create a couple mood boards for the season. It will especially be helpful this year because of my move. I put it off for the autumn season because I still needed some time to adjust. Right now, I am checking out Michael’s Halloween collections this year. The ‘Hippie Hallow‘ aka the ‘Barbie Scream House’ is my favorite- I already have a few pieces picked out that I will put in the condo.
Aesthetic Changes Throughout the Year?
No, not changing aesthetic to keep up with the trend. There is already a lot of discussion about the ever-evolving styles and sustainability. Trust me- you will be hearing more about the topic on this blog. But right now, I am just talking about a change due to seasons.
Have you found light academia pleasing during the warmer months and then tone it down to dark academia as the days cool down?
Our environment shifts our mindset easily, influencing our moods, taste in fabric, and activities after all. So do we yearn for academia because in the autumn because it brings back the nostalgia of our school days? Or for current students, excite you for the upcoming year ahead? Are you about to get that diploma? Cozycore is certainly desirable in the colder months but that white cashmere throw and hot cocoa can seem smoldering at the height of June!
I am always fascinated by fantasy elements and incorporate that in my daily style. However, the tone of my aesthetic changes throughout the year. From spring to midsummer, I follow the Faeriecore trends. Gradually, I shift from the meadow to the sea in Mermaidcore. During the cold months, I seem to follow the whimsigothic and academia aesthetic.
This is not a ‘I have to, I have to change!’ feeling. This is something I tend to do by instinct. There are no set rules for what I do.
You Don’t Have to Change Your Aesthetic for the Season!
If a beachy scented candle pleases you year round, then keep getting that candle if you can! I say ‘if ‘ because of businesses rotating products during the season. Of course, please don’t wear your favorite gremlincore sweater outside in 104 F weather!
In Conclusion…
You are not losing ‘you’ when your aesthetic changes- whether it is just for the season or simply time.
Have you ever felt the seasonal aesthetic change? If so, write in the comments how your aesthetic and style changes throughout the year! Meanwhile, I’ve got to decorate my brush. I need to find some embellishments…
